Ken Mask, M.D. is author of detective fiction seris including Murder at the Butt: A New Orleans Mystery, Luke Jacobs, P I , City Park Murder: Flowers on the Tops of Trees, and e book issues-A New Orleans Detective Mystery, The French Quarter and now cumulative Mardi Gras Madness. Positive feedback and demand from fans during extensive book touring schedules prompted the development of the first in the detective series The Quarter as a motion picture/episodic television project-currently in development, under contracted option by Wendell Pierce for production.
Additionally, Ken co-created Director Todd Williams’ 2004 Peabody award winning documentary ‘The N Word,’ Ken co-wrote and produced “Progressions”, which won the 1997 New Orleans Film Festival for Best Short. He also served as a consultant for Wynton Marsalis’ Pulitzer Prize winning “Blood on the Fields” and Grammy nominated “House of Tribes”. In addition, Ken was a production coordinator for Virgile Bedock’s “A New Orleans Music Renaissance”. It was showcased in the 2009 New Orleans film Festival as a featured screening.
In an effort to increase the learning and reading needs of all children Ken and his six year old son Joshua recently published the illustrated children’s books: Griffin the Dragon and the Jump House, Griffin the Dragon and the Game of Chess for Kids. The third in the series, Griffin the Dragon and Healthy Eating Habits for Kids and the fourth, Griffin the Dragon and How to Tame a Bully have just come out. Also Dr. Mask has just completed the global launch of the game app: Tic Tac Mo.
Ken received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and his undergraduate as Honors in Philosophy from UNC Chapel Hill. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology, Fellow of the American College of Radiology and has lectured on topics of radiology and surgery. Additionally, he has been a guest on radio and television medical talk shows as well as NPR. His medical practices include a private concierge medical practice as well as consulting in diagnostic radiology, First Medical Imaging, PA.
