The Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society was certified as a 501 (c) (3) literary and educational non-profit organization in 1992. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. Tax deductible donations may be made directly by check to The Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society and mailed to Faulkner Society, 300 Audubon Street, New Orleans, LA 70118. For those who prefer to use credit cards, donations are being accepted and managed on our behalf by: The Greater New Orleans Foundation, also a (501) (c) (3) non-profit which handles donations for a number of non-profit organizations and also manages funds from which donations are made by individuals, private foundations, and businesses. (GNOF charges a processing fee for credit card donations and assesses the Society a 10 per cent handling fee for all donations to the Society made through GNOF.)
Membership is open to any person interested in fostering the goals of the Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society, Inc. regardless of ethnic origin, race, sex, religious creed, or political affiliation. The Society has had members in every American state as well as Australia, Canada, England, France, Malaysia, China, Latin America, and Japan. Its members are about equally divided between men and women and range in age from 15 to 92. Membership encompasses every profession and occupation. Developing writers who enter the William Faulkner – William Wisdom Creating Writing Competition, receive as a gift from the Society an Individual Membership for one year.

In-Kind Contributions receive equal consideration, based on value of the gift. Membership donors all will be recognized at donor levels in the printed program of the annual festival and on our web site. Donors of $1,000 or more can be recognized additionally as named underwriters for specific events of the festival. Sponsors of cash prizes for the annual literary talent search, The Faulkner – William Wisdom Competition, have the same membership benefits as the comparable membership donations. Small business owners, corporations, and professional men and women may elect to donate as advertisers providing us with advertising art for use in our festival program and on our web site. Contact us for ad specifications. Or we can prepare ads for you. Special writer packages are available for the fall festival, Faulkner for All! Underwriting Benefits
All donors who fund projects at a level of $2,500 or more are recognized in our programming literature, both printed and electronic as important underwriters and are eligible for election to the Faulkner Society’s Executive Board.
Note: Significant In-kind contributions, such as credit card reward points for use to book winners, judges, presenters travel, are recognized for membership contributions at levels depending on the value of the gifts. Members who solicit $2,500 or more from third parties are eligible for Executive Board service.
